Nicolás Rey
Nicolás Rey (b. 1995, Tegucigalpa, Honduras) is a photographer, writer, and filmmaker based in the D.C. area. He earned his B.F.A. as part of the first graduating class of Film, Television, Voice-Over, and Commercial from Pace University, as well as Associate’s degrees in English writing, Business, Photography, and Cinema Video Production from Bucks College.
Nicolás’ photographic journey began in 2016, and his most recent work in 35mm photography has explored how Artificial Intelligence can cooperate with analogue processes through a series of black & white portraits. In 2021, Nicolás won the Penland Prize in poetry following his private mentorship with Guggenheim Fellow, Dr. Christopher Bursk. In 2022, he was named a finalist for Bucks County Poet Laureate. He's had work chosen for display in the Hicks Art Gallery, often his Kensington street photography, and has had film projects he’s worked on selected by the New Jersey Film Festival (2022) and New Hope Film Festival (2023).
Nicolás was honored as a recipient of commendation by the Pennsylvania State Senate and Bucks County for community leadership in 2022.
